Frequently asked questions

What is the California Clean Truck Check?

The Clean Truck Check is a California program that requires most non-gasoline heavy-duty vehicles over 14,000 lbs GVWR operating in California to have periodic emissions compliance testing. It applies to California-registered trucks and many out-of-state trucks that operate in the state.

Do you do the test yourselves?

No. We are a free referral service, not a testing station. We send your request to an independent CARB-credentialed Clean Truck Check tester, who does the test and sets the price. We are not affiliated with CARB.

Is the referral free? Do you sell my information?

The referral is free for truck owners. The tester pays us for each referral, which means we sell the information you send us to that tester. Our Privacy Policy lists the buyers, and you can opt out at any time on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page.

Do I need a Clean Truck Check inspection?

If you operate a non-gasoline heavy-duty vehicle over 14,000 lbs GVWR in California, you likely need to comply. That includes owner-operators, small fleets, and many local service vehicles. If you're not sure, send the form and the tester can walk through it with you.

How often do I need testing?

Most covered vehicles need testing on a recurring schedule set by the state. Frequency depends on the vehicle type and model year. The tester can explain your specific schedule.

How long does an inspection take?

A typical Clean Truck Check compliance test takes around 20 to 40 minutes depending on the vehicle and test type. The tester confirms the time with you.

What do I need to bring to the appointment?

Usually your vehicle registration, VIN, and any previous compliance paperwork you have. The tester tells you exactly what to bring when they schedule your test.

Do you work with fleets?

Yes. We refer owner-operators and multi-truck fleets. Ask the tester about recurring testing and fleet pricing.

What areas do you serve?

We primarily cover the San Fernando Valley including Chatsworth, Canoga Park, Woodland Hills, Northridge, Reseda, Tarzana, Encino, Van Nuys, Panorama City, Granada Hills, and Porter Ranch. Surrounding Los Angeles area locations are welcome — just ask.

How do I book?

Send the request form. We send it to an independent tester, who contacts you to set a time. You book the test with the tester, not with us.
